Bichectomy (Cheek Thinning Aesthetics)
Bichectomy is a surgery to remove excess fat from the cheeks. It is applied to people who have a lot of fat on their cheeks and therefore their facial features are not clear and their face looks bulky.
It can be applied from the age of 20.
The plump and overweight appearance that bothers the patient is eliminated. It is also called Hollywood cheek because it is preferred by Hollywood stars. It reveals the cheekbones, makes the face look thinner and provides a youthful appearance. In this way, the jawline becomes more prominent.
In bichectomy, the fat in this area is accessed through an incision of approximately 1 cm inside the cheek. Approximately 40-50% of the fat in this area is removed. Self-dissolving stitches are placed inside the cheek. The operation takes approximately 45 minutes. It can be done with local anesthesia or general anesthesia.
Smoking and alcohol consumption are not recommended before the bichectomy operation and during the recovery period. Additionally, blood-thinning medications such as aspirin should not be used before the operation.
Since there are stitches in the mouth after the surgery, solid food should not be consumed in the first days and liquid foods should be consumed. Mouth spray/gargle should be used for three days after the surgery. To prevent infection, great attention should be paid to oral hygiene. The stitches on the cheeks will melt and disappear within a few weeks. All sensitivity on the cheeks also ends. Most patients can return to their social lives immediately after the surgery. It is normal for some edema to occur around the surgery area, which lasts for 2-3 weeks. Swelling and edema are reduced by applying ice. The clear results of the operation appear after a few months. Conditions such as infection, tissue trauma, and bleeding may occur, although rarely.
