Eyelid Aesthetics (Blepharoplasty)
Eyelids are the areas most affected by aging. Since the skin structure is thin and it is a mobile area, sagging, loosening and wrinkling start from the age of 30 and even become restrictive in the field of vision after a while.
Eyelid aesthetics should be evaluated together with the forehead and cheek area. Sagging on the cheeks makes under-eye bags more noticeable. Fat fillings to the cheek area along with eye bag surgery are effective in solving the problem. While this provides a youthful appearance, it is also necessary for a neat and smooth appearance under the eyes. In upper eyelid surgeries, the eyebrows and forehead must be evaluated and the sagging here and the volume and elasticity that decreases with age must be replaced. For this purpose, methods such as eyebrow lift, temple fat filler, forehead fat filler can be used.
The lower and upper eyelids should be evaluated together, and the signs of aging and sagging can be solved as a whole by removing excess skin, muscle and fat tissues. The eyelids are one of the areas that leave the least scars. Since the incisions are made in areas suitable for the lid folds, post-operative scars are rarely visible. The surgery is usually performed with local anesthesia. If necessary, it can also be performed with general anesthesia. The surgery duration is approximately 1.5 - 2 hours in total for the upper and lower lids.
Although there is swelling and redness on the eyelids in the postoperative period, this disappears within a few weeks. In the first week, there is a thin band on the eyelids, and these bands, along with the stitches, are removed in the first week. The formation of the full shape occurs in the first months. It is expected to experience complaints such as burning, stinging and watering in the eyes in the first days. Proper use of prescribed medications and drops and creams is important. After the first week, patients can return to their daily lives.
Although rare, postoperative conditions such as infection, bleeding, straining of the eyelids, and the possibility of damage to the transparent layer of the eye are possible.
