Dimple Aesthetics
Dimple shapes are due to the short development of the zygomaticus muscle on the cheeks. Due to the short developing muscle tissue, the skin forms an oval depression inward. Anyone over the age of 18 can have dimple aesthetics. Dimple aesthetics is generally a permanent procedure. However, from time to time, the dimple may widen. In such cases, dimple aesthetics need to be renewed.
The patient and the doctor jointly decide on the area where the dimple will be made and some drawings are made in the area. Usually, under local anesthesia, a small incision is made inside the mouth and a dimple is created by gently pulling the cheek area inward with medical sutures. The procedure usually takes 15 – 30 minutes. Patients are usually discharged shortly after the operation. During this process, the doctor advises the patient to consume soft foods. Temporary bruises may occur in the area where the operation is performed. Pain may also occur in the first few days.
During the first few weeks after the operation, a distinct, deep depression is visible in the area where the procedure was performed. But later this depth becomes lighter. It is recommended to use the medications given after the operation and to clean the inside of the mouth with various sprays/gargles for the first 3 days. Problems such as infection or bleeding may occur, but these situations are extremely rare.
